My wife works for Payless Shoes. The store that she is in requires at least 2 people at all times. This is due to a situation that occurred a few years before she started there. She has worked there for 4-5yrs, full time(32+ hrs). For the last 6 months or so, the mgr has not been coming in to cover if someone. My wife works for Payless Shoes.

For the last 6 months or so, the mgr has not been coming in to cover if someone calls off. My wife recently told the mgr that she will not work alone in the store and the mgr has been coming in if someone call off (not happily, but hey-it's part of being a mgr).
Well, yesterday my wife was told that she will be loosing her sick days, vacation days, AND Christmas holiday pay, because they are dropping her down to part time! My question is this-If a company gives you these benefits, and it is listed on your pay stub as time available, can they legally take them away if the drop you down to part time? If the can not legally do this, who do we need to contact. I've looked at some of the gov. Websites, but the info is mostly on disability discrimination, etc. I agree with other responders that your wife is an at-will employee and that the store can fire her for any reason or no reason.
However, the 'any reason' cannot include illegal reasons. If you wife feels like she has been 'demoted' because she reported a violation of store policy, the company may be liable. It's called retaliation, which is actionable. Your wife should contact the regional manager, or whoever is her manager's boss, and inform them that the manager has cut her hours because she was seeking to enforce a store policy. If the regional manager is unreceptive, move up the chain.

If no one in the company is responsive, contact the local or state Labor Relations Board. Again, this MIGHT be a case of retaliation and is worth pursuing somewhat, but there is no guarantee. Benefits are not a right of employment thus the term benefit. If she has days that she is owed that policy states she earned such as vacation time that she should be able to take. Pay for sick days or holidays et-cetra that are not already owed to the employee can be discontinued at any time. Check with your local department of labor enforcement or job service whatever it is called where you live they will pursue this for you if there is any violation of law.
Number of hours per week that qualifies as full-time is set by the company some it is as little as 32 others consider full-time 38. A company can do nearly anything they want or need to do in regards to benefits, schedules, termination, etc. It DOES NOT sound like any labor laws were broken.
Labor laws protect from discrimination and emotional and physical harm. Stop wasting your time looking for some kind of compensation/revenge and spend your time looking (or helping your wife) look for another job. You wife was employed 'at will' meaning she, or the employer could change the conditions, or either one could terminate the employment.
