OtsTurntables Free is a 100% FREE (no spyware, no banner ads), virtual set of professional mixing turntables empowering music lovers, aspiring DJs and pros to scratch, adjust tempo and pitch, play backwards, and mix MP3s, WAVs, Ots files and CDs. DJ your next party like a pro, or just enjoy listening to your MP3s mixed professionally at home with Auto DJ. You'll love the optional warm vinyl-crackle ambience, and the built-in Dynamics Processor will save you juggling that volume knob ever again. You can also upgrade to the Pro edition allowing you to record your mixes, cue in your headphones, webcast to the world, and enjoy psychedelic visualisations. The virtual DJ setup of OtsTurntables Free lets you mix and tweak your own MP3s to make you sound like a world-class turntablist. The interface emulates a real-life setup of two turntables and a mixer.

Each turntable has pitch, tempo, and direction control. There also are play, stop, and auto-fade controls, and the program comes with virtual outboard gear such as a power amplifier, a graphic equalizer, and a dynamics processor.
The free version limits the dynamics processor to compression and gain control, however. Quirky effects such as Surface Noise, Various Scratches, and Needle Noise are interesting.
We liked the auto-DJ function, which automatically crossfades between tracks. You can add individual files, CDs, streaming playlists (M3Us), or folders to the playlist. The program supports WAV and MP3 files, as well as its proprietary Ots format. Though this version appears feature-limited compared to the paid versions, OtsTurntables Free is a solid player for both newbies and laptop DJs.
8 I'm not a professional DJ at all – not even an amateur one – but I can still appreciate a good DJing tool when it comes to my hands. Ots Turntables Free is a basic yet fully featured DJ application with which you can have your very own DJ sessions at home. Feeling creative? Mix your two favorite songs and create a unique blending with the software mixing capabilities. Throwing a party? Spice it up with your most lively songs, mixed together in a continuous loop. The good thing about Ots Turntables Free is that it's loads of fun, even for those o us who have almost no experience in mixing music.
The program's intuitive interface, designed just like a real double turntable, makes it very easy to use: you can adjust the volume, speed and tempo of each sound source, and even make some scratching effects by dragging the turntable with your mouse. Plus, the program features a couple of samples to get you started but you can easily add your own MP3 files. On the downside, however, this free version of Ots Turntables has been slightly crippled to keep some of the extra tools for the Pro version. While I understand this decision, I find that some limitations, such as not being able to record your mixes, are a bit too restrictive.
