EE3 seems to be having a problem with audio devices when using a Sony DCR-HC21 miniDV camera. I plug the camera in via the firewire and EE3 recognizes it. The 'Video Device' menu offers a 'Microsoft DV Camera and VCR' which I select.

The 'audio device' menu has 3 choices - one is the camera. When I select either of the other 2 drivers, the selection looks as if it's accepted but the audio is directed from the camera mic instead of my selected audio device. If I create a live source for either of my audio devices separately, without selecting a video device, they work just fine. I want to bring a mixed audio signal in and combine with the video. That's what I'm trying to accomplish.

My audio devices include a TASCAM US-144 audio interface and the internal mic/line input of my laptop which has an 'SoundMAX HD Audio' driver name. The output is directed to a file. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on an HP Elitebook 8530w Any help would be appreciated.

There was a previous post on this issue back in November 2009 which didn't receive a reply, so I'm reposting the question. Thanks, Dave.

I found a work-around last night when I was looking for an application to replace EE3 since it didn't work with my DV camera. There is a program called VH Multi Camera Studio by Hmelyoff Labs (entirely free). You can download the app here First I ran VHMultiCameraStudio and added my Sony camera. I tested it out along with the Capture app which worked well (basic but at least functional). Next I ran EE3, selected Live encoding, and an instance of VHMultiCameraStudio autoMagically launched. The driver, VHMultiCam, appears in the EE3 VideoDevice drop down box which I select.

1.1.7.0

Then I selected my laptop internal audio device and the problem was gone. I got audio from my laptop mics and video from the camera and nothing from the camera mic. So by using VHMultiCameraStudio as a wrapper to the 'Microsoft DV Camera and VCR' driver, you can work around the problem until the EE3 team delivers a solution.
